Our trip to Jamaica

We have just returned from our family vacation in Jamaica. Sadly, we were struck by a stomach bug while we were there and spent more time ill than healthy, but we still tried our best to make the most of our time by the pool and on the beach. And while most of the photos I took were on my iPhone, I did manage to drag out my camera a few times. And I'm thankful I did. Baby T and Family | Toronto Newborn Photographer

Most people think of summer and fall for the best light for family photography. And for the most part, they're right – nothing beats the golden light of a late summer sunset. But, the more I shoot this winter, the more I fall in love with the glorious pockets of light found in my clients homes. Although it challenges me and it is not always forgiving, I love it anyways because it is natural and honest. It's real life. Which is what I have always said I want my photography sessions to be. This family is close to my heart. Ben's newborn session was one of my first and I will always be grateful to his parents for opening their door and inviting me into their home. Two years later and we've become good friends and it's wonderful to capture their newest addition – baby Tyler. Ty joined the world six weeks early so these photos were taken at 39 weeks (6 days before his due date!).

Jen, Jared + Bump | Toronto Maternity Photographer

My last shoot of 2013 was with Jen and Jared just 10 days before Christmas. I met them at their apartment and we ventured outside to enjoy the freshly fallen snow. These two are expecting their first baby at the end of the month and their excitement and joy is contagious. I think I had a goofy smile on my face the whole ride home on the subway...

Happy New Year! Welcome 2014...

2014-01-07_0001 Happy New Year! After a 3-week holiday with my family, I'm back to work this week. It feels good to be setting goals and making resolutions for 2014. Already it looks like January is going to be a busy month with lots of babies on the way. And above is my own – Brooke at 8 months.

Wow, I'm down to only a few shoots left for 2013, and we have ended up with SO MUCH SNOW! I couldn't be more thrilled! Christmas is less than 2 weeks away and I was able to enjoy a cozy Saturday morning with this new family of four, complete with a fire in the fireplace while it snowed like crazy outside. Here's a sneak peek of baby T and his adoring family... 2013-12-15_00022013-12-15_0004

The G Family | Toronto Family Photographer

This sunny session is from back in early September. Oh how I'm already missing those glorious summer sunsets! I've been photographing this family since their firstborn was just a wee one and now she's a preschooler with a baby brother in tow. It's so wonderful to be able to capture a family as it grows...
