For Kath and Will... who were not that comfortable or keen to be in front of the camera but who had faith and were willing to try. Always worth it.

I was so happy that this family booked in September which is my absolute favourite month for shooting. The grasses and trees are still alive and fresh, and the sunsets are glorious. When I asked these girls to sit down on the grass and THIS is how they fell into position, without any direction or prompting from me, in that moment I knew this would be a good one. The kind of session that is effortless and fun, that oozes with love and connection.
I think this session is a bit different for me. What started out as a cloudy morning, turned into a very sunny morning. I was drawn to the highlights in their hair and across the grass and flowers. And the connection between the family – I loved how close they were. They were rarely more than a few feet apart.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween. Despite the chilly weather and rain, my girls were troopers and enjoyed both giving out candy at our door and traveling around the neighbourhood to fill their bags. Today's post features a session from back in September. Elizabeth is an artist who I met at a local mom's group (MumNet for anyone who is interested!). I've really enjoyed her friendship the past few years, as well as photographing her family.
Check out Elizabeth D'Agostino's blog here. She has an upcoming exhibition which opens this Saturday November 8 at Loop Gallery.
I love returning to families who I have already worked with – as they welcome their newest additions, reach a milestone, or document life together as a family. I love to capture their joy. I photographed this family when they had their first baby girl and it was wonderful to see them again as they welcomed a second baby girl into their family.
Madness in an amazing, lots of running, lots of cuddling, lots of laughing, and lots of leaves throwing sort-of-way. I am so appreciative of all of the families who came out this weekend and spent a little time in front of my camera.
I took the girls to one of my favourite shooting spots last week to enjoy what was probably one of the last warm days of the year.
We lucked out last weekend with beautiful, warm weather for the first round of fall mini-sessions. The next round is on Saturday Oct 18 and there are only two spots left. Click here for details. Here is a snippet of one of the families – yep, all this in just 20 minutes!
I spent a sunny afternoon with these three and their parents back in late August. It's hard to believe how quickly the last few weeks have gone by and how the weather and days are changing. Looking at these definitely makes me long for summer again. We started at one of my favourite parks and then headed for a walk through the Junction, finishing up with popsicles. It was the perfect end-of-summer session.
We ventured to the "country" on the weekend and visited my family and met our new niece, Sadie Marie. It was a bit chaotic with over 16 people enjoying a sunny afternoon on the back deck – enjoying food, catching-up, kids jumping in the pool and babies crawling and climbing, and of course most of us passing around and oohing and awing over this tiny, adorable, 7-day old baby girl. Luckily we were able to break away for a little while to enjoy the beautiful countryside and capture some photos of this sweet family.
Congratulations Amy, Justin and big brother Mason (who could not be with us on Sunday) – Sadie is beautiful and we're so thrilled for you!
